Taco Ring: A Fun Twist on Taco Night
Taco meat, melted cheese, and golden crescent rolls—all in a dinner you can slice and serve with everyone’s favorite toppings.
If taco night needs a little change, this is a fun way to use those familiar ingredients. Add a salad or set out lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream so everyone can finish their own plate.

A Little Taco Ring Throwback
I found this picture while looking for a photo to share with you, and I am still laughing. This one goes all the way back to September 2017!
October marks my 11-year anniversary with Pampered Chef, so pulling out an old recipe photo feels pretty fitting. I’m making Taco Ring again for Mealtime with Melanie Live. Nine years later, let’s see if my crescent-folding skills have improved. No promises. 😂
The good news? Your folds don’t have to be perfect to get dinner on the table. A little filling showing is part of making a ring.
Classic Beef Taco Ring
Serves 8 • Oven: 375°F • Bake: 25–30 minutes, plus prep
Ingredients
- 1½ lb lean ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (1–1¼ oz)
- 1¾ cups shredded cheddar, divided
- 2 tablespoons water
- Two 8-oz packages refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 lightly beaten egg white
- Optional: salsa, lettuce, onion, tomato, olives, sour cream
Directions
- Heat oven to 375°F. Brown and crumble beef in a skillet; drain. Mix with seasoning, water, and 1½ cups cheddar.
- Separate dough into 16 triangles. Overlap their wide ends in a circle on a pizza stone, leaving a 5-inch center opening. Point the narrow tips outward.
- Distribute beef mixture around the overlapping dough. Fold each tip across the filling and tuck beneath the inner edge.
- Brush with egg white; add remaining cheddar. Bake 25–30 minutes, until golden. Slice into wedges and serve with toppings.

Make Taco Night Easier
- Cook the taco meat ahead. Having cooked meat ready cuts down the work when it’s time to assemble dinner.
- Prep toppings while it bakes. Use the oven time to chop vegetables and get plates ready.
- Keep toppings separate. Everyone can pick what they like without changing the whole dinner.
- Give yourself room to fold. Spread the filling evenly rather than piling it all in one spot.
A large round baking stone gives you room to arrange the dough and tuck the points underneath. Use a skillet for the filling and a scoop to help portion it evenly around the ring.
Dinner Before Trick-or-Treating
This doesn’t need a spooky makeover to work for Halloween. Serve it before everyone heads out, or slice it into wedges for a Halloween get-together. Keep the toppings easy and let dinner be one less thing to figure out.
Come Make It With Me
I’m making Taco Ring live on YouTube Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:30 PM Pacific. While it bakes, I’m planning to make homemade salsa too!
Come hang out, talk dinner, and see how the 2026 version compares with my 2017 photo. We’ll find out together whether the folding got any better. 😂
