How to Use the Pineapple Wedger for Easy Fresh Pineapple
Fresh pineapple is one of those things I always love having on hand… but cutting it up? Not always my favorite job.
Between the tough outer skin, the core, and trying not to waste half the pineapple, it can feel like a lot of work for something that should be simple.
That’s exactly why I love the Pampered Chef Pineapple Wedger. It helps cut the pineapple in half and remove the core, making fresh pineapple easier to prep for snacks, summer dinners, grilling, fruit trays, and more.
Because using the right tool for the job really does make mealtime easier. 💜
Watch How Easy It Is
I made a quick video showing exactly how the Pineapple Wedger works.
In the video, you’ll see how the tool helps split the pineapple and remove the core, so you can finish prepping it the way you want.
How to Use the Pineapple Wedger
Here’s the basic idea:
- Cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple.
- Stand the pineapple upright on a sturdy cutting board.
- Place the Pineapple Wedger over the center of the pineapple.
- Press down firmly and evenly and then wiggle the wedger side to side.
- The tool helps split the pineapple in half and remove the core.
- From there, slice, cube, or prep your pineapple however you want.
Additional tip: If your pineapple is too tall or feels hard to press through, cut the pineapple in half first, then use the Pineapple Wedger on each piece separately.
That’s it.
Once the pineapple is halved and cored, it is much easier to work with.
Why I Like It
For me, this is one of those tools that makes fresh pineapple feel less intimidating.
I love fresh pineapple, but I do not always love the prep. The Pineapple Wedger helps take care of the hard middle core and gives me a better starting point for whatever I want to make.
It is great for summer because pineapple works with so many easy meals and snacks — and when fresh pineapples go on sale, it’s the perfect time to grab one and prep it for the week. 💜
Easy Ways to Use Fresh Pineapple
Once your pineapple is prepped, you can use it in so many simple ways:
- Fresh fruit trays
- Smoothies
- Grilled pineapple
- Chicken or pork bowls
- Pineapple salsa
- Tropical salads
- BBQ chicken sides
- Teriyaki chicken bowls
- Summer snack plates
Fresh pineapple pairs really well with chicken, pork, shrimp, rice bowls, tacos, BBQ flavors, and teriyaki-style meals.
A Simple Summer Dinner Shortcut
One of my favorite ways to use fresh pineapple is with an easy no-oven dinner.
Think grilled chicken, rice, pineapple, and a quick sauce. Simple, fresh, and perfect for hot nights when you do not want to heat up the kitchen.
You can also prep the pineapple ahead of time and keep it in the fridge so it is ready when you need it.
That is the kind of shortcut that makes mealtime easier. 💜
My Favorite Tip
Cut the pineapple when you bring it home.
I know that sounds simple, but it makes a big difference. If the pineapple sits whole on the counter, it is easy to ignore. But once it is cut and ready in the fridge, it becomes an easy snack, side dish, or dinner add-in.
A few minutes of prep can help keep fresh fruit from going to waste.
Is the Pineapple Wedger Worth It?
If cutting a fresh pineapple feels like more work than it should, this is one of those tools that can make the job easier. 💜
It is especially helpful if you:
- Avoid buying whole pineapple because cutting it feels like too much work
- Want to remove the core more easily
- Like prepping fresh fruit for the week
- Make fruit trays or summer snacks
- Want pineapple ready for grilling, salsa, or easy dinners
- Grab fresh pineapple when it is on sale but do not always feel like dealing with the prep
It may not be an everyday tool, but when you need it, it makes the job easier.
Helpful Tools to Finish the Job
The Pineapple Wedger helps with one of the trickiest parts: cutting the pineapple in half and removing the core. A few companion tools can help you prep, slice, and serve it even more easily.
Chef’s Knife
You’ll need a good knife to cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple before using the Pineapple Wedger. After the pineapple is halved and cored, you can also use the Chef’s Knife cut the pineapple into slices, spears, or chunks.
Quick Slice
Once the pineapple is trimmed into smaller sections, the Quick Slice can help cut it into more even pieces for fruit trays, snack containers, or meal prep.
Cool & Serve
Fresh pineapple is best when it’s cold and ready to grab. The Cool & Serve is a great way to keep pineapple chilled for parties, BBQs, summer snack boards, fruit trays, or even just an easy fridge-ready snack station.
Cutting Board
A sturdy cutting board gives you a safer surface while you prep, especially since pineapple can be juicy and a little slippery.
Basically, the Pineapple Wedger helps with the “ugh, I don’t want to deal with the core” part, and these everyday tools help you finish, serve, and enjoy it. 💜
Fresh Pineapple Made Easier
Fresh pineapple does not have to feel like a hassle.
With the right tool, you can get it halved, cored, and ready to use for snacks, summer meals, fruit trays, grilling, and easy dinner sides.
Because using the right tool for the job really does make mealtime easier. 💜
